Beautiful apartments in a small, charming complex

The Marialena Houses, located on the outskirts of the small Cretan village of Megala Horafia in the Apokoronas region in the west of the island, offer high-quality accommodation in a magnificent setting.

The nine individual detached houses, set in a lush and colourful garden, are located at the foot of the breathtaking White Mountains, which serve as a backdrop to this beautiful area.

Of course, a great location doesn’t automatically guarantee excellent accommodation, but we think our Marialena houses come very close.

Manolis and Sofia, the owners, take great care in maintaining the cosy houses. It is extremely important to them to provide their guests with privacy and tranquility, so the four two-bedroom and five one-bedroom houses are completely detached. Each house has a covered veranda, one or two bedrooms, a bathroom and a spacious living area with an adjoining kitchenette, equipped with a mini-oven, toaster and coffee machine, among other things. There are air conditioners in the bedrooms.

Two additional sleeping options are available in the living room on the sofa and divan, so up to four or six people can be accommodated respectively.

The two inviting swimming pools, framed by the pretty garden, make it very difficult to leave Marialena. But if you want to feel sand between your toes, you can reach the long sandy beach of Kalives, one of many picturesque coastal towns in the area, in less than ten minutes. Here you can also stroll, shop and try the local delicacies in one of the numerous taverns.

From the Marialena houses, you can reach two taverns and a mini-market in a few minutes on foot.

In the Apokoronas region, many pretty traditional villages are waiting to be explored by you, or discover what the area has to offer away from the beaten track!

The largest lake in Crete, Lake Kournas, the archaeological site of Aptera, monasteries from the 14th and 15th centuries and the beautiful Venetian port city of Chania, which is only 20 minutes away by car, are also worth visiting.
