The tranquil little fishing village of Makrigialos is still considered a special gem on the south coast of Crete.

In recent years, it has awakened from its slumber and has now become a popular holiday resort for peaceful family holidays, where the connection to shops where you can buy fresh bread, fruit and vegetables, etc. is just as important as a beautiful beach and a selection of pretty taverns.

The picturesque fishing harbour is the visual highlight of Makrigialos, where local fishermen still set out to sea in small, colourful boats and return a few hours later with a magnificent catch of fish. They sell some of their catch on the spot to the local tavernas, so the fish goes from the water straight to your plate, if you want!

Two hundred years ago, the historic buildings of the White Houses were used as storage rooms for raisins, olive oil and carob, which were stored here until they were loaded onto boats and transported as far as Egypt. The houses are only five metres from the water’s edge, in the outer part of the harbour, and offer fantastic views of the pier, the sea and the beach.

The Harbour Apartment has been furnished with great attention to detail. The interior design combines Greek-style furniture with antiques and a few unique designer pieces, which emphasises the unique ambience of the holiday apartment.

The Harbour Apartment also includes another comfortable holiday apartment for two people, as well as three houses for two to eight people each.
