Paleochora, the extremely attractive holiday resort on the south-west coast of Crete, is situated at the end of a peninsula, surrounded by the crystal-clear sea. You can get everything you need for your holiday in the village. Paleochora’s extensive, beautiful sandy beach is heavenly, a wonderful place to let your soul dangle.

However, if you are more in the mood for adventure, you can take a boat trip to the incomparably beautiful lagoon of Elafonissi, where millions and millions of small shells colour the sand pink and the water glows a Caribbean blue. Or take a boat to Sougia (the nearest holiday resort), Agia Roumeli (a pretty mini-resort at the exit of the mighty Samaria Gorge) or Loutro (a small coastal village accessible only by boat or on foot). Take a trip to see dolphins or sail to the small island of Gavdos, the southernmost point of Europe.

Rent a bike or explore the beautiful area on foot; there are countless tracks, coastal paths and scenic hiking trails that wind through centuries-old olive groves and past traditional villages. Hike through Europe’s largest gorge, the famous Samaria Gorge, or take a trip with your rental car or the public bus to the north coast to Chania, the charming and largest city in western Crete.

The possibilities are endless.

In the evening, Paleochora’s main street is transformed into an idyllic café and restaurant strip. The innkeepers put their tables and chairs outside and the craft shops are open until late. The choice of tavernas is wide. You can choose from fresh fish, pasta, pizza and traditional Cretan cuisine, including a wonderful view of the sea at sunset. A perfect end to a perfect day.

There are a total of four bungalows and two studios that are ideal for couples, singles and families. The studios are completely independent of each other. The kitchenette is well equipped, so prepare yourself something nice for dinner and let the day fade away on the pretty veranda with a glass of Greek wine!
